Experience

Dr. Ann E. Barron is Professor Emeritus of Instructional Technology in the College of Education at the University of South Florida (USF), Tampa, Florida. She began as an Assistant Professor at USF in 1991. In 1995, she became Associate Professor, and was promoted to Full Professor in 1999. During her tenure at USF (through 2015), she taught graduate-level courses in multimedia, instructional design, web design, and telecommunications. She also served as Major Professor for 25 Ph.D. students who graduated from the Instructional Technology program at USF.

Dr. Barron has extensive experience in the design, development, and evaluation of interactive courseware in industry and military environments. Her work with IBM Enterprise Business Services (Principal of Special Projects, 2000 - 2008), Interactive Media Corporation (Principal Scientist, 1990 - 2000), and Martin Marietta Missiles Group (Senior Instructional Designer, 1988 - 1990) involved the design and development of multimedia and Web-based training for commercial and government customers. She worked with many international clients, including the Royal Navy (UK and Australia), Royal Bank of Canada, US Navy, and Kroger.

During the 1990-1991 academic year, Ann was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Central Florida, where she taught graduate level courses in Instructional Technology and served as the Associate Director of the UCF/DOE Instructional Technology Resource Center. Previously she was a teacher in middle school mathematics and physical education in the Antilles Consolidated School System in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Oswego Middle School in Oswego, Illinois.
